03 Nov yoga day 2: drenched
You know how your clothes get when some idiot , probably your best friend, sneaks up behind you and pushes you into the pool with all your clothes on?
THAT was day 2 of the 30 day Bikram Yoga Halifax Challenge. I was DRENCHED in sweat. It was so hard to take off my workout clothes that it seemed the only way out of them was to roll them off my skin. My not being amused by how long it took to get my clothes off was outweighed by every fibre of my being high five’ing a million angels. I was proud of how I handled my second day despite how unbearable the heat got at times because it was a full class. I pushed more, attempted all poses and when I couldn’t quite get it, I put that pose in my mental yoga folder of poses I’m going to OWN!
I got home to have a small late supper of salmon and a red kidney bean and chick pea salad and for dessert I had some pineapple and loads of water! My meal felt right and was just what I needed. My friend Elise and I had talked about what we ate after day 1 of the challenge and funny enough we both opted out of certain things because honestly, after you put your body through hot yoga, it is just an utter waste to throw it all away by eating something bad. I want to make every drop of sweat count. and there were hundreds of them yesterday! After that running in a field of daisies high from class started to simmer down I realized that everything hurt. EVERYTHING. I never knew I could hurt even in between my toes! The best part of day 2 was getting home and being in bed at 11pm and being too sore to get out that I just ended up passing out. You have to understand that this NEVER happens as I’m such an insomniac and tend to go to bed after 4am!
I look forward to more sweat drenched days, good sleep and improving my form.
