what is my blog worth?

A little while ago as I was catching up on a blog I love, Fashion Steele NYC, I came across a post called “What the hell is a fashion blogger?”.  Reading that post was therapeutic for me.  Monroe passionately wrote about the clueless and somewhat insulting approach that some brands take when wanting to collaborate with bloggers.  Under my old blog, Curvy Geekery, it took me 2 years of building it to get to the point where I started having some more noticeable brands approach me.  In that time frame I experienced brands whose approach revealed a myopic understanding of what it takes to create one post let alone single handedly maintain a blog. When I re-branded and launched Lion Hunter, 3 months ago, I knew I’d have to rebuild from the ground up.  With this change I knew I’d lose a part of my following but I was comforted in knowing that those that stayed would do so because they would’ve seen how perfectly in tune my new site is with me. The process that lead to the migration and the last 3 months is how I started thinking about my worth and when I came across Monroe’s post it was unbelievably refreshing. I implicitly connected with her break down of the kind of work that goes into a single outfit post.
[Random Thought] There are 3 types of people that will look at this post
1. You will see a long write up and you will leave because somehow you have allowed yourself to be image driven and can’t be bothered to read all th….. (well I guess you are gone already huh!)
2. You are a fellow blogger who will relate to every damn thing said here.
3. You appreciate my blog and will be enlightened, through Monroe’s words, as to what it takes to create one post.

If you didn’t already know, I created this site; from the moment I signed up on wordpress to tweaking the design to suit me, from all the hours of troubleshooting, to creating my business card, from self teaching everything and to this very word. I put myself out there and experience quite a few disheartening NOs. I pick myself up, reposition, and try it all again. Though my new site is still a baby, I am working my butt off to get to and exceed where my previous blog was. I LIVE true to everything you see here. My brand doesn’t take a break when I leave my house to go the store. I am the real life representation of what I share on this site and the brands that I work with don’t compromise that. I AM (miss) Lion Hunter and I only pray that when a brand approaches me they see how tirelessly I work for my brand which translates to how tirelessly I’ll work for our partnership.

p.s. To the amazing brands who I am currently affiliated with, I am humbled by your loyalty to me through my transition.
To YOU, reading this, THANK YOU for standing by me.
