12 Sep love local halifax | Big Day Downtown

It’s that time of the year again when the Downtown Halifax Business Commission chooses the 30 best bloggers in the city, equips them with Visa gift cards and lets them loose to discover something new in the city and document it. This is my 4th year being a part of this great initiative and I already can’t wait for next year!

This time around, the challenge was to ask our readers what they loved doing in the city. Most of my readers talked about hanging with friends over food! I totally agree! There is nothing like the convenience of calling friends at the last minute and making plans to meet downtown for dinner, libations and sweet treats! I took friends with me to do just that. We had food, drinks and macaroons at Scanway Catering (I had the Egyptian Steak Sammy, yum!) and also had copious amounts of froyo at Menchies. Because I always try new food places during Big Day Downtown (HA!) I thought I’d also share something else I love to do in this city. Every September, fashion’s new year, I LOVE going to Coles Bookstore to stock up on my September issues. I also added to my purchases my current book club read Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie .
Knowledge and food, what more could I need!

Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas and to the Downtown Halifax Business Commission for letting me a part of Big Day Downtown again!
