love local halifax | lion hunter exclusive: ALT Hotel Halifax

I had the amazing privilege of being invited for a special tour of the new ALT Hotel that just opened at Halifax Stanfield Airport. If you remember in April I got the chance to stay there for a night before I left Toronto after fashion week [here].  The Halifax location is just as amazing as the Toronto location with a few extra advantages.

Here are my top five favourite things about the hotel.
1. The hotel is powered by geothermal energy where energy is pulled from the earth and then converted for use throughout the hotel.
2. It’s the first of the ALT Hotel chain to have a swanky swimming pool with big windows overlooking the airport and planes flying in and out.
3. All grab and go meals are catered by a local company under the ALT brand that uses ingredients sourced locally.
4. The Halifax location is the first hotel chain that has a pedway that connects it directly to the airport.
5. The room’s lights are turned on when you slide your room key into a slot next to the door and turned off when you take your key to leave the room.
bonus: I got to meet Christiane Germain,  Co-President of Groupe Germain Hospitalité, the family that owns the ALT Hotels. It’s always empowering for me to see strong business women at the helm of amazing Canadian-owned companies.

Here are some pics I took.
