love local halifax |Big Day Downtown 2013

I had the pleasure of being picked to take part in Big Day Downtown again this year. The Downtown Halifax Business Commission graciously gave me some money to spend and try something new in the city. This year we got to pick 3 cards from a box and whatever we picked would inspire what we’d choose to do. I picked Social, Happy and Exotic. The last two years I’ve done a little shopping so this year I decided to try some new restaurants. To cover Social and Happy I took my best amigo Kwame along for the adventure. We tried a Vietnamese restaurant (Gingergrass), a new food + wine spot (Two Doors Down) and our (now) new favourite ice cream spot (Choco Cafe)

The Pho was amazing!!!! The shrimp was fresh and juicy and the seasoning used in the soup was to die for! I can’t wait to go back to this restaurant to have this again!

This ice cream right here!!!! It’s classic vanilla with an ample helping of Belgian chocolate melted to order! It’s pure heaven!

I’m  a sucker for a good burger, this is the Oldschool Cheeseburger. The patty is made of house ground PEI chuck, brisket and short rib. It sounds yummy and it is yummy!!!

A HUGE thank you to The Downtown Halifax Business Commission for letting me blow some of their money! If you are in Halifax, do yourself a favour and try one of these places soon!
