27 Feb A CEL.E.BRA.TION. OF FRIENDSHIP
A lot of good has happened to me, good that I never got to celebrate in a fashion worthy of it. Good that needed to be acknowledged through a gathering of my closest friends. So I sat down a couple of months ago and started crunching some numbers, writing down names of friends and figuring out a way to celebrate this good. My budget only allowed me to invite so many, so it made me sad I had to leave some people out.
I sent out a save-the-date followed by an invite with a breakdown of the evening and a strict dress code. The reason for the celebration was left out. At first it was to celebrate all my features and achievements so far then it morphed into honoring the people that have been there for me. The features, though really appreciated, took a back seat and it just felt right. As I type this I have the biggest grin on my face. I keep having flashbacks of seeing my friends, some who didn’t even know each other, come together and create magic!
In this digital world, a thank you is easy to type and sometimes, sadly, void of a deeper feeling of gratitude. So I hoped this gesture of creating an unforgettable experience for my support system would help to express how honored I am to have them. This moment also served as one last chance to spend time with them before I start travelling for a few months. Not saying I won’t be back from my adventure, but I’m open to the opportunities that are coming my way!
To the people who’ve been there for me but I couldn’t invite, your presence in my life does not weight any less and please know I am DEEPLY grateful that I have you! To you reading this, I’m so grateful for you, from whichever part of the world you are in, for always logging on to support me.
My heart is SO full, just overflowing!
